I wonder if they did that with earlier 911 & Boxster engines? They were / are unreliable for high-G track work (only OK on street rubber, not sticky's). I blew two engines in my 2002 Boxster S. Yes of course  I was pushing those sticky's hard in the club sprints, but it's a Porsche right? wrong!

It was sold after 2nd failure "only driven to religious events on Sundays ..." the new owner probably still doesn't know he got a near brand new engine via Porsche OZ warranty ;-)
