2009 Frankfurt Auto Show Preview: Porsche 911 GT3 Cup

STUTTGART, Germany — The latest incarnation of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup racecar, based on the 911 GT3 RS, will make its public debut next month at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show alongside its road-going sibling.
Compared with the 911 GT3 RS, the GT3 Cup is lighter and faster, with some serious hardware aimed directly at cup-trophy series competitors around the world. The out-of-the-box price, before taxes, will be just under $215,000 when deliveries start in late October.

Offered in only a single color, Carrara White, the 911 GT3 Cup shares its 444-horsepower 3.8-liter flat-6 engine with the GT3 RS, with the exhaust exiting through a racing system with fully controlled catalytic converter. The GT3 Cup gets a six-speed sequential gearbox, as well as larger wheels and tires, and weighs significantly less than the GT3 RS — only 2,646 pounds.

If the car can not be registered and if it came in as parts as Kevin Weeks did with his racing Lambo it is only 5% duty. He then reassemble the car when all the parts arrived.

you don't have to pull apart a race car, it arrives assembled and you pay 5% duty plus GST and that's it.

plus GST. i doubt porsche germany will sell you a 2010 model. they might, or you'll prob have to go through porsche cars australia, and they'll get a lick. you won't buy one under $300k delivered. then you won't have a series to run it in. cheaper to buy a 06 to 09 car that's eligible or saleable for a race series in australia

Is there LCT on them ?
Or are specific race cars exempt?

But the sound of a newbie for $230k.... would be good.

I'll end up getting one of Cruikshanks 996 or 997 ones.... I'm sure he will work it into increase sponsorship for next year...
