Yes the rs variant is a different matter. If I recall correctly only about 16 came to Australia. Some of those I gather became upside down cars.

The 996 gt3rs at classic throttle shop is under offer. Circa $200k.
They are going for silly money in the uk and I guess the Oz delivered cars may find their way back to Europe as they come to the market.

For ref

Lets say minus 10-20% being totalled lost! still means that the car is very rare.

FYI I did contemplate a 1m being only 100 built being newer car than the gt3 but the gt3 is just extra special :D

lol !!! damn thats a lot !!! is that just in australia or world wide?

The other option i was going for was e46 M3 cal!

Just another question, if both were the same price would you go for rarer colour or lower mileage? assuming the high mileage is slightly better simply because it's a highway Mileage vs tracked or city mileage?

That was the Aus number only, the U.S. for example got 700 odd.

Re colour vs milage, I'd want both I'm my favour. The frog Ive ordered is 1 of only 3 black ones coming to aus out of fifty cars, noting also that the world wide production is only 250. Each car is numbered x of yy which guarantees, maybe, a fixed number of cars unlike bmw and mini (with the GP).

I know this is a little bit off topic, but would you think the 996 GT3 will be the next collectors item?

In the UK they are beginning to appreciate in value already. If Australia cars don't start increasing I think a few will be heading overseas soon. I think the Series 1 cars are the pick of the bunch simply due to the low numbers produced and been a more raw car. The RS will always be collectable.

However I wouldn't be buying anything for investment or collection purposes at the moment - just for enjoyment. Someone posted up some late 80's or early 90's car prices pre bubble and the prices for some cars is only just beginning to hit the same dollar value - that's not taking into account 30+ years of inflation. Buyer beware in this hyped up market.
