porsches go round and round all day. you'll have more issues with the gearbox than the engine if you don't treat it right. you won't have any issues for club stuff. what year is the asian car? 06,08,09? how may k's??? who drove it in asia?

need to check on those. just been told it's also been part of the Porsche training school at Mt. Cotton..

I'd recommend you buy one from someone who can drive and races it regularly rather than a 'track' or test car. It is pretty common knowledge who looks after their cars and replaces/refits clutches, gearboxes and engines at the appropriate time. At a recent club day I saw Shane Smollen's old 2006 997 going around and know it has been looked after and has a pretty fresh engine and gearbox. Offer him 100k and I reckon it is yours, no need to bring in something unseen for more than that. I think it is on 105.com too.

Beware though, they aren't cheap to run and you will need a mechanic with some Porsche experience.

oh, and I'd advise you spent $200-$300 and get a recognized race mechanic who knows cup cars to look it over and give you a rundown on the operational costs. The great thing about Porsches is that they are probably the most durable of cars under all weather conditions but there is a minumum level of maintenance that is required to enjoy relatively trouble-free motoring.
Get a couple lessons from a decent driver also before you give it a good squirt. It is the best money you will spend.
Good luck and you will love it.

Thanks for the tips! Will definitely keep it in mind. The guy we were thinking of to review any cars we look at would be Mark Buick. He's about the only guy I know in SA that has experience with such a car.
