Thanks for the tips! Will definitely keep it in mind. The guy we were thinking of to review any cars we look at would be Mark Buick. He's about the only guy I know in SA that has experience with such a car.

yes, Buick is pretty good,  and there's also Keith Wongs guys that run his RS.

I saw Shane Smollen's old 2006 997 going around and know it has been looked after and has a pretty fresh engine and gearbox. Offer him 100k and I reckon it is yours
Plus GST?

There's a few younger cars with less k's for round the same money, uncrashed too.

How easily can the driver seats be replaced? Would it be a 10 min job or a 1 hour job, any idea?

There's two of us keen to get into one together as a start. No racing, just track days. I'm 6'3 and he's 5'9 so I think we'll need separate seats.

more about width really, half an hour tops but prob 10 mins with the right tools. better to get a larger seat and the little guy slots in padding.

But the seats are in slides anyway, so its no prob.

I ran a 996 for a couple, she is 5ft 3 and 40kg, he is 6ft and 100kg.

pick the right seat, have some foam pads, just slide to suit.

cripes, I just looked on my105 and those things have collapsed. No reason you shouldn't get something decent all up for 85-90k with a little bargaining.
Still, what is 10k or so after you've been through a few sets of slicks and some labour for a meeting or two.
Bit like XBox...the hardware is cheap but the upkeep costs a fortune (games).
