Spied! 2012 Porsche Boxster Hits the Nurburgring

Just after Porsche revealed its latest Boxster model early this year, we picked up spy shots of new model already testing in the snow. Now, we have more shots the more clearly show the changes in store for what will likely be a 2012 model.

If you're not a Porschephile or don't have the current car to compare it to, it would be very difficult to pick up on most of the changes on this new Boxster. The only real, dramatic change is in the small, LED taillights, but they're likely only there as place holders. It's worth noting, though, that the shape of the taillight opening has changed from the current model and is much more squared-off than the current ovoid lens.

The Blue hoses look like air lines. Maybe it's their KERS system.

Porsche releases driving footage of the new Boxster Spyder

Porsche has released the first video showcasing the newly unveiled Boxster Spyder. The Spyder model weighs 1,275 kg and is motivated by a 3.4 liter boxer unit that is also found in the Boxster S. Power is rated at 320hp instead of 310hp in the S. Exterior highlights include two bulges on the single-piece rear lid and a unique soft top that looks a little weird when it is up (look at the rear attachment). Continue reading to watch the 2 minute 57 second-long video.

drove one today.

it's the first standard Porsche I've ever driven that made a nice noise (IMO), it didn't seem artificial, even though it is.

The noise got bad once stopped though, the idling direct injection system is VERY noisy and rattly, oh, and the manual gear selection is vague and rubbery. Not even as good as my Getz. But I guess it's designed around having  PDK.

Lovely car overall though.

Still got minimal charm/charisma though.

Rather have a Datsun 370Z for half the price.

I don't mind the look of the new boxter, but wtf is wrong with the roof at the back?
You can say I'm wrong, but my garage doesn't agree with that statement!!!

it's actually really clever... it's like a shade sail type thing.

Utterly functionless, just creates a more appealing line, and removes the need for a "proper" roof.

it's just a tarp.
