*********************************
A CUSTOM built and rare Porsche rally car, one of only 12 in the country, has been stolen from a Hunters Hill home.

Owner Richard Perini woke yesterday to discover his silver 996 GT3, worth about $275,000, had been taken from his Campbell St garage sometime overnight.

Police said Mr Perini and his wife were slept through the brazen robbery, which happened late on Monday night or early yesterday.

The car is one of only 12 in Australia, and one of only two which are silver in colour.

Police said thieves found the keys to the rare car when they broke inside the house, then managed to drive it from the secure garage without waking the occupants.

Personal items were also stolen from the home.

is it a 997, is it a 996, is a road car, is it a race car, is it a rally car, is it a luxury sports car, is it worth $275k, is it custom built, is the photo in the article the actual car?

some great reporting there!

would be more helpful if it said 'Silver colored car that looks like a Porsche of some kind stolen'

It'll already be stripped to a shell, regardless.

Wrong again.

Original means the car is as the factory made it in regard to all apparent details, regardless of whether it has been repaired or serviced or painted.

This car was modified.

And you are an idiot.

So what is a "restored car" ?
