good idea, take it to long term parking, it is likely no one will realise it is stolen for more than 14 days.... insurance pays out lol.

Just having a crack mate, all in good fun  :D
You can say I'm wrong, but my garage doesn't agree with that statement!!!

Thanks for all those who helped and I certainly appreciate all the critics. Big lesson to be learned (for me personally) through this incident.

I honestly never thought this kind of thing would happen but it certainly does make one reconsider the security of his/her property.

At least it was only a stolen car and not a home invasion...

Do you know if the car is still in decent condition?

Agreed. Thankfully no one was hurt inside the house.

The car is undamaged and in the same condition that it was in.

According to the odometer, the car has travelled less than 50 kms. May have only been driven to the airport and was left there.

Great that you got it back. It is now safe. Hopefully it is sound.

I remembered this incident involving one of "our" Mitsubishi EVO8 cars which were "factory" fitted with IntelliTrac.

The details made the forums back in 2005.
Details are not 100% correct, (as in most forums) but i do remember the incident.

Similar circumstances. Owner was on holidays at the time.
They broke into his house, took the keys and drove the car.

The owner went on holidays without informing us.
Hence the "geofence" alert which would have normally been setup around his house would have triggered as soon as the car left the garage.

We received the alert as a "Battery Disconnect"  once they had started stripping the car.

Our control room called the owner to confirm the alert.
They owner was on holidays.  We asked if the car was in a particular location.
The owner said "That's not my home address...it should be home"

here are some quotes.

Evolution VIII stolen in Darwin
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
An Evo VIII was stolen in Darwin last night. Police went to a house where they found it being stripped. Four people were arrested at the house but over half the parts were already gone when the cops got there.

If you see Evo 8 parts for sale - do us a favour and call the cops. There are ZERO wrecked Evo 8s in Australia. If you see parts from an Evo 8 - they are stolen from this car. All of the missing parts are uniquely identifiable due to the itellidot spray system.

The "suspects" should be appearing in court in the next couple of weeks.
**************************************************************

And of course nothing like a great endorsement from the general public.

EVO VIII's were fitted with 'Intellitrac' whereas EVO IX's were fitted with 'DiamondTrak'

E9's are having far too many issues with theirs, whereas the E8's system is deemed flawless and well worth its weight in gold. :D :p
