That blog articulates precisely why I've recently made a firm decision on what my next car will be and have commenced action pursuant to that decision... I'm saving up to buy a 997 Carrera (six speed manual, of course).  Will be another great driver's car to park alongside the Lotus and Evo.

What happened to your 355CH fetish??

Took a dive when I discovered that all Ferrari interiors post-348 go sticky.  :) :p

Only kidding.  I still have tremendous respect for the 355 Challenge (and any other track or competition- based Ferrari), but I can't see myself spending $200k+ on just one car, unless I somehow strike it rich.

I'd rather have the Evo, the Elise and the 997 for that sort of money.  I'm not a one car/toy guy, I get real satisfaction and joy from having a few very good but very different cars.

I cannot tell you how much I enjoy taking the Lotus out early on a saturday morning, only to return home and swap straight into the Evo to do the exact same drive.  I absolutely love it, and I look forward to doing the same thing a few years down the track with the 997 Carrera.  :)

Also, the more I dwell on it, the more I realise that the Ferraris I really love come from the pre-FIAT era, and I'll never be able to afford one of those anyway.   So if I ever really had the $ to spend on a Ferrari, it would probably be a pre-'69.  Would love a series 2 330GT 2+2.  Ticks ALL the boxes (Colombo V12, front engine, 5 speed, single headlight, egg crate grille, borranis and wooden Nardi steering wheel* etc).

*can't believe I forgot the Borranis and the Nardi wheel.  :(

I should have kept mine - but I was getting sick of the Cops hassling me. They just couldn't handle the fact that I owned one(out right I must say). Kept getting accused of running Drugs.   :irked:

Although it would be a little old and out of date now.  :scratchchin:
