What EXACTLY is the symptom.

From about 80km/h on smooth bitumen I can feel a mild vibration through the steering wheel but also sense it through the car generally.  It doesn't exactly shake the steering wheel but as I move off dead centre through sweeping bends, I can feel it (and just see it).  At higher speeds it becomes more noticeable and at speeds that I can't expect a mechanic to duplicate it becomes worse again - almost like a sunroof that isn't quite closed - a mild drumming sensation.  As the suspension loads and unloads over gentle undulations, the vibration intensifies/becomes less noticeable.

Replacing the front wheels and tyres with brand new ones helped a little but it was still there.  The first set of fronts they fitted where replaced under warranty and another set are on now.

All 4 tyres have been replaced in the last week with Pirelli PZero Rossos - same as it had from new.

I've to the Beissbarth readouts - before and after.  Could they tell you anything?

Edit: Braking is fine and makes no difference.

Your excellent description sounds to me like you have both front and rear wheels with run out....

the  front goes when you change the wheels for new ones, but you still have a rear run out.

The cornering loads that seem to dampen the vibration are probably due to tyre compression.

Try this..... let your tyres down to ~15psi and go for a less than 100 km/h run....

Have the rear wheels been checked for run out?

Also, could possibly be a drive shaft probelm... CV joint perhaps... any work done there?

I think they will be checking the rears for run out tomorrow - if they haven't done them already.  I've had no work done on the car beside routine servicing at about 17,000km.  Car now has 22,000km approx.  Car was perfect till now.

Thanks for your interest FF.

Ah, ok.

No worries.

What happened to cause the initial problem? Did you/someone bump over something?

Not sure - I must have hit a pothole somewhere.  Nothing I can remember.

based on your comments Mark, I think the discount on the Porsche needs to be bigger than 'mates rates'??  ;)
