Ok guys....I know you're all going to hang crap on me, but I made a mistake buying my 996. I want an auto.

For the money I want to spend I have two options that interest me.

996 Turbo tiptronic

997.2 PDK

Now I know all you purists are going to poopoo the tiptronic, but I'm not fussed about it. I drove the original 4 speed version and I thought it was fine, and it suits my purposes. OTOH, PDK is excellent and a Carrera S is almost as fast in a straight line as the 996 turbo (not that it really matters) and probably handles better. OTOH again, a turbo is a turbo!! and I can see a big depreciation curve in front of the 997.2 but not the 996 turbo....or I could be wrong about everything...I haven't driven either.

Please note...this is not my toy....it's my run around.

Thoughts and/or suggestions please?

I love my car. Buy your own

I don't think the 997.2 will depreciate that much to be honest. As you are aware the 997 interior was an improvement over the 996.

If the 996 was a manual I would say go the 996 but it's not.

I'm not so sure.

996 3.6 is 40-50
997.1 (S) is 60-80
997.2 (S) is 90-100

BUT 991s are tumbling...I can see the 997.1 60-70 and 997.2 at 70-80...but I can't imagine a ripper Turbo dropping from what it is today, esp not with the previous and later models being so expensive.

OR I could be completely wrong.
