Jaguar For Sale / AUD
« on: Thu, 16 Aug, 2018 - 10:22 »
Anyone want to weigh in on the tanking Aussie peso?  Has it got much further to go?  Is the China/US trade spat having an impact?

Recent Aussie employment data had no impact on stemming it.

Jaguar For Sale / Buying Tyres - Sydney
« on: Tue, 03 Apr, 2018 - 23:42 »
So, had a blowout on the Murci, nothing dramatic, just unrepairable, and on Good Friday of all days, so way to spoil the long weekend.  So on Saturday, called a couple of the usual stockists of unusual sizes in Sydney, as the Murci sizes are apparently as common as a steak at a vegan wedding.  Tempe Tyres, St George Tyres, I must have rung 15 stores no go, some were just plain rude and none offered to source or even attempt to find out when they could sell $3k worth of rubber.  Don’t even want to go into how utterly useless Lamborghini Sydney’s Service guys were.

Anyway, this is a positive rant.

Finally got down the list to Tyre Power in Hornsby.  The guy there Doran basically said fat chance in the old school cobber way, and then proceeded to call every contact in his teledex (I imagined him with one). PIRELLI reps, wholesalers, the works, and eventually found a set of fronts 3 hours later and a back order on the rears when they arrive in country late May, thank god it was a front blow out. Organised a courier, got them in late, had another old mate hang around and fitted them after hours.  Took so much care around the car, I swear he could have done 10 sets of tyres in the same amount of time, then blocked traffic so I could reverse the car out of the workshop!

Anyway, felt I had to give these guys massive props.  They really went above and beyond to help me out, and to be frank, I just don’t see it any more almost anywhere.  So if you’re in Sydney and need some tyres, can’t recommend them higher.

Mercedes Benz AMG / Early 70's 300SEL 6.3...thoughts?
« on: Tue, 20 Feb, 2018 - 09:04 »
Hey all,

I'm having a bit of a potentially less than intelligent moment, and considering a 300SEL 6.3.

Does anyone have one in their quiver?  What are your thoughts?  What do I look out for? There's 2 up for sale at the moment, one for $70ish and one for $125ish.  I haven't seen them yet, but hard to see the 50k between the 2 in images, ones obviously had some love on the interior and is 100% as the factory delivered, the cheaper has a few mods from later model cars, but a lot can be reverted back for 50k.

Also, they won't be serious money, so thoughts on the restomod path on one of these?  How do they drive as they are?

All thoughts welcome

Can someone tell me why, when they were driving 2 separate vehicles, and what I can see in this article, he wasn't directly responsible for the crash of the other vehicle, this kid got gaol time? It's very sad, but where's the culpability of the other driver?

http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/driver-jailed-over-street-race-which-resulted-in-opponents-fatal-crash-20171212-h030wy.html

A young Illawarra driver involved in a fatal crash while street racing with a mate at Windang last year has failed to avoid a full-time jail sentence.

Jay Geoghegan fought back tears in a Wollongong District Court on Monday as Judge Andrew Haesler sentenced him to at least 17 months behind bars over the crash, which claimed the life of 18-year-old Jesse Brown in September 2016.

Geoghegan's lawyer had argued a community-based intensive corrections order would be an appropriate punishment for his client, however Judge Haesler rejected the submission given the "extreme" nature of the then 19-year-old's driving at the time.

Court documents reveal the two men were seen driving their respective vehicles at high speed, weaving in and out of traffic on Windang Road, south of Wollongong, moments before Mr Brown's car ploughed into the back of a stationary delivery truck parked illegally on the roadway.

Mr Brown was killed instantly.

Geoghegan was taken to hospital for mandatory alcohol and drug testing but was cleared of any such outside factors.

Police subsequently charged him with dangerous driving occasioning death, to which he pleaded guilty.

In a moving victim impact statement read out in front of a packed courtroom on Monday, Mr Brown's mother Cathy Davis said the loss of her son had left a "black hole" in her life.

"I feel that two people died that fateful day; my son and myself," she said.

"I feel like Jesse is a soul with no body and I am a body with no soul.

"I am so sorry Jesse for the one time you needed me that I couldn't protect you."

Meantime, Geoghegan penned his own letter to the court, revealing his deep sorrow, guilty and regret over his actions.

"I have re-lived that day over and over every day since and if I could change it I would," he wrote.

"I think about Jesse's family every day and how they are...I wish I could take their pain away, click my fingers and give them back their son, their brother, their friend."

In handing down the sentence, Judge Haesler found Geoghegan's moral culpability was high given his "extreme speed" - estimated to be 130-140km/hr in the moments before the crash - and the fact he and Mr Brown were involved in a race.

"This was not a case of momentary inattention – Mr Geoghegan abandoned his responsibilities as a driver," he said.

"A driver's licence is a privilege. The abuse of that privilege on this day resulted in another person's death."

Geoghegan will be released on parole in May 2019.

He has also been disqualified from driving for three years.

Lamborghini / LP640 lights and Tail pipe
« on: Mon, 18 Jul, 2016 - 15:50 »
Hey guys,

I've got LP640 Rear lights and Tail Pipe in good condition on my 6.2, but looking to swap back to original.  Before I go through the process of buying the original gear, swapping it out, and selling the LP640 bits, is there any 6.2 owners out there that are interested in doing a bit of an ass-lift and swap?

Lamborghini / Murcielago Clutch Feel
« on: Thu, 17 Sep, 2015 - 13:09 »
Hi all, done some searching but can't really find what I'm looking for.

Is there anything that can be done to improve the weight and feel (ie increase it) of the clutch on the Murcielago?  It's just too light and "numb".  Takes away some of the driving engagement.  Any mods with a smaller slave cylinder, or any other way to decrease the leverage on the hydraulics?

The clutch is a Kevlar unit with about 4,000km / 12 months on it and it's ridiculously light.

Hi all,

New member here, recently took on a Murci, but it's going to be in storage for a few months at a time on a regular basis.

Does anyone here use anything to prevent flat spotting the tyres?  Any particular product to recommend?  There's a few online, but can't find anything distributed locally in Oz.

Cheers in advance

Andy
