Track was obviously off, last time I was there did a 46.8 from memory. ;)  Pointless comparing times unless you are there at the same time and then swap karts.  We must do a Phillip Island day when I get back.  It's a great track.  I'm jealous.

Took my boys to a kart track last week in France.  Interestingly it's illegal for them to post times for kids up to 14 years old.!!! The snow is not good at the moment so thinking of going back this week and have a go myself hopefully.

Correct. You can only compare same sessions. Yes, we gotta go again.

The Tilley boys were in my session which I won.  Davey Renolds from FPR was in the session before us and had fastest time of the day at 46.6

New karts at Phillip Island, cute packaging...

Look great, very KTM looking, but........ "The karts are fired by a 9hp GX270 Honda engine," thats not a lot to get excited about.

Looks decent enough for a hire kart I guess.

Every go kart I have been on is an on off switch accelerator, brakes you never use and too much grip.

Here's my concept

Battery powered
Low grip, bicycle width tyres, test grip by using a device that increases in force slowly until it can push it sideways

Electronic governance on max acceleration in metres per second per second, but ensure the max value is greater than grip at low speeds, which means an electronically governed curve so you can't just mash the pedal
Similar for braking
Push to pass, extra voltage for x seconds per lap
Design tracks that require lots of braking and acceleration
Either ballast or computer adjustment to cater for weight differences of driver
Telemetry via WiFi to compare you against others

Then you would get me in a go kart

Like all my other internet forum concepts, I expect the naysayers and traditionalists to be merciless

Throttle yes, on/off... But brakes not used! What! Braking is everything in a kart... Late and hard, used for steering mainly....

... plus you keep your foot on the gas for better pick up out of the corners.
