Agreed, theres alot to love about an event like this, such drama and such a journey. Got alot of respect for the endurance of competitors and their bravery. Its probably the only motorsport event left in the world where there is at least one fatality every year.

Imagine entering an event knowing that statistically at least one person is going to die

Except for the ones that have come down hard on their seat after a bad jump...  not so much of the balls now.

But seriously, good to hear Luca Manca is making a recovery after his induced coma etc.  That must have been a huge face plant.

the organisers lost their balls moving it from africa. most of the danger came from the blacks and the terrorist cells... :D

I seem to recall the radio station was having a call with the Australian rider that died a couple of years back who was leading the bikes. He was from Millicent.
They said on the radio they were having trouble calling him today, most likely due to his location...

Are you thinking of Andy Caldecott?  He was from Keith.  I saw him ride as a junior - he was a real talent.
