There are already extensive aftermarket parts available for just about anything. There's a local electronics specialist that's working on a replacement gearbox TCU, plug and play swap out, you name it, it can be copied/remade.

On that side of things I agree - there's enough of us who are stupid enough who will survive long enough to figger out how to keep things going.

* edit * btw, I'm getting the Galaga memory board and controller set for my Arcade Tabletop from the US soon.   

I have even got it all working again and it takes 20cents coins as well.  (It's got Pacman in it atm)
