I was comparing the lap times in these vehicles and they appear to be very similar.

I understand that the drivers in GT3 are lesser drivers..??

Having stated this are the cars the same in GT1 to GT3??

Good question

Yes, gt3 is aimed at amateur drivers. Gt1 at pro.

In Ferrari 458, cars are almost same.

Gt1 has free springs and shocks, and weight is slightly lower too I think, but cars are essentially the same.

Not sure re other cars, but philosophy is gt3 car, freed up a little.

Thanks Phil,

Years ago when the Vitafone Maseratis used to get around those GT1 cars where far superior to GT3's weren't they?

I suppose it comes down to cost effectiveness??

What would the lap time difference between the cars assuming its the same driver?

with the 458

the anti roll bars are also free for GT1, and silencers were, but are being changed to Gt3 spec.

cars are essentially identical, the race event is simply aimed differently.

Another good reason to buy a GT3 spec 458 rather than a challenge car....  :tilt:

The Lambo 560 and 600 GT3 cars had the massive bonus of also being able to simply swap a few parts to become GT2 cars (manual gears, less aero, lighter, no abs etc)..   but then GT2 fizzled out, so it's no longer much value.
