A very sad day for motorsport, just goes to show that you can die in these cars today and they aren't as safe as they seem. Condolences to his family and friends

It is very sad indeed, and goes to show that safety should not be taken for granted. Even with a perfectly prepared car, there are still risks involved.

It also thows this whole next weekend into a spin, with the indycar drivers due to come here for the V8 gold coast event.

They've now dropped the rule about bathurst guest drivers not being able to do GC.

Will Power can't drive either, so FPR have got Richard Lyons now, Simonsen will be here again too in a  car to be announced elsewhere shortly, a few others will also change due to aftermath of the Indycar accident.

Sad day indeed.

Makes Lorenzos finger seem pretty meaningless now eh?

Just got off a long haul flight that had me watching the Senna movie and "Grand Prix - The Killer Years" (BBC documentary about deaths in the early years of GP racing and the drivers that worked hard to improve safety).

Both painted a picture of deaths in motorsport almost like a thing of the past.

Very sad that this is not the case.

A Hover Car. That's a neat way to stay out of trouble. Pity the landing was so hard.
