So we had another round of racing at Mallala this weekend in our MG-F Cups. Unfortunately things didn't end well in race 2 in the category before ours. The incident was serious enough that the whole weekend race is cancelled. Police were enroute as I was leaving. None of the officials were saying anything but the word is the driver did not make it. Saw the wreck as it came out near where we were and it looked bad.

Certainly reminded us that racing is dangerous.. even in cars that are not super fas.

If the stories are true then my deepest condolences to the family of the driver :(

That's terrible news. Where in the track was this?

They think he may have had a health issue as he went off without contact with any other cars on a straight at approx 150kph and hit a concrete wall. He was driving a track prepared Honda Civic but I wont say his name in case his family still haven't been informed.

My initial thoughts were that he may have had a heart attack as Mallala is a fairly safe track.

RIP!
May the Horse be with you....

All it takes is a bad angle. Remember Ashleigh cooper's accident at clipsal. Hardly a big shunt, but the wrong angle made all the difference.

There were lots of stories floating around, and some questioned the scruterneering process.. all rumours as far as I know and we'll know soon enough.. maybe?

We were told he went off at the kink before the back straight. Didn't see any wall damage though. Everything was hush hush.
