The GTR sounded great at low speed when there was nothing else around.
the tone is great, although not loud.
the fit and finish is excellent inside.
the rear seats a waste of time.  makes the 911 rear seats look large.

MOTOR or WHEELS had that GT-R at Mallala last week against a 997 GT-2 with Ed Ordinski driving both.
Have heard conflicting reports about what went faster.  Will have to wait until the magazine gets out.

The porsche apparantly lapped in high 1.15's and the GTR ??? i have heard 1.17's from some and high 1.14's from the owner of the car.

for reference - both are very quick times.

that GT2 time is no quicker than a stock GT3.
if the GTR managed High 114's - thats probably quicker than anything porsche make on R rated tyres.  The quickest i think a GT3 on road tyres would go is flat 1.15's or low 1.15's

anything anywhere near 1.15 is VERY quick out there

It was mentioned on Top Gear Oz last night that the GTR they had was speed limited to 180kmh. Is this applicable to all GTR's? If so, that would definitely handicap it at Mallala.

were they both on standard tyres?

if so, is it true that the GT2 comes with "R" tyres, whereas the GTR just has normal road tyres?

I love my car. Buy your own

The GT R was on the 20" Dunlops.  i dont think it would classify as a normal "road tyre" but i didnt check the spec.

The GT2 was on Pilot Sport Cups.  They are a good tyre but around that circuit they are significantly slower than a Toyo, Nitto etc..  i think they are slower than a P zero Corsa also.

without knowing much about the Dunlops, i wouldnt have said the GT2 was running an "advantageous" tyre with PSC

What the owner told me was the fastest he had driven it was 1.16's but someone else drove his car on the same day and did 1.14's.  :scratchchin: .. as you said...both are quick, but I was expecting 13's.

13's!!!!

cup cars are running 11's or 10's.

the cup car with 1100kg and 450hp was doing 11.2 so 13's are insane for a 1700 kg road car

The point of the GTR system tho is it's supposed to know when it's on a racetrack and disable the nanny functions appropriately.

the cup car that was there was doing 11's and he was very dissapointed. He told me he should be doing 9's once the car is setup properly.
