Looks like he fell asleep and forgot to turn for the corner.

Apparently his throttle stuck wide open...

Would that still run a throttle cable? I would have thought it would be fly by wire  :scratchchin:

Would be FBW unless Suzuka 8hr regs say they must be flat slides or cable TB's they do have odd rules in the long races at Suzuka. I'll try and find the regs for the 8hr. Love those big duel tank fillers, Beater tanks make them for most bikes now.

I made a bigger carbon tank for my RSV4 the std tank is hopeless.

How do you get a throttle stuck wide open with FBW?

It's still cable from the twist grip to the servo after that the ECU controlled the butterfly position regardless of the twist grip, so you have the twist fully tuned all the time and the ECU gives the motor what it can use as per the mapping settings. TC and lean angle etc, you don't see high sides anymore because the ECU controls the power deliver not the rider, next time you see Moto GP see how it's Red or Green right hand fully twisted, in days before ECU control you could not do that.

Interesting, I thought they would have got rid of the throttle cable the whole way.   :scratchchin:

My VFR had FBW exactly as described by tiger....but like you, I couldn't really understand why it was done that way.

I think keeping the FBW servo off the clip on is a good thing last thing you need is more weight on the clip on plus they would get damaged easy in that area game over no chance of getting back on the bike with a damaged servo. Cables are still push pull from the twist grip and the servo is mounted in a relatively safe area on the side of the motor on most bikes, cables are very light and simple. Maybe the twist grip got a tap and pushed the grip up against it, they are tie wired on the tube though ???

The black box on the side of the TB's is the servo it is quite big.
