A high speed crest by the looks of it. Not hard to imagine what went wrong in this case.

Remember the 512 BB accident from the Targa Tas we did ?

The Mercury article says it adds to the road toll. Normally these fatalities are not included as it's not a public road at the time of the crash.

Sad news for the drivers family and friends.

So So glad Simon and I stopped doing tarmac, now is falling into category of once a year fatalities.

I still maintain CAMS have much to answer for with licensing requirements being zilch. At least with circuit its based on visual inspection in a race over 5 races.

You'd never pick that the car was a Cayman from the photos.

It is understood the driver of the Porsche was travelling about 200km/h when his vehicle became airborne and then landed awkwardly.

The driver was 70 years old and had to be taking things way too seriously. It's fun to go fast but these guys need to be running at 810ths, not 11/10ths.

From riding bikes for years in the Adelaide hill's I find it just as much fun if not more to go 8/10ths and enjoy the glide through the corners than the "hit the brakes hard, panic and hold on" feeling of going flat out.
