Nice spot mate....

I remember talking to the lady who had both GP "1" & GP "2" for sale in a Saturday advertiser years and years ago for $10k for, I think both of them. Was a bit rich for me for a couple of plates
I think it was in the late 90's or so.
She was selling them as her husband had passed away and had no use for them........ :(

No surprises there. You'll only get quality from me mate, you know that.  :D

Sadly, I'm reminded every day of those two that got away because he lives opposite me.

Both the original owners died in separate accidents...

GP"1" and GP"2" were owned separately always, although the owners were close. I put the story on the site, click here:

http://historicplates.com.au/sa-grand-prix-black-plate-register-project

They were both registered on AMG 500 SEC's, one red and one navy blue.

Both owners were clients and I had the chance to purchase them, but historics have always been my main interest.....

These two are still today the two "lowest" SA numbers sold with rights.

I recall seeing GP1 on the red merc back in the early 90's, or even before this... use to be parked down on East Terrace a lot.

I was certain I kept the ad, but am yet to come across it. Both lady's were and remain good friends to this day, hence one advertising both, one plate being on the others behalf.

This would be how the existing owner acquired both plates. Nicely done.
