I've put up a test zone on the front page of the site to showcase the photographers, I know most folk who are active on the forums don't venture far from them, but there are 2-5k other people here every day who poke around the rest of the site too. 

I've put counters on the profile pages to indicate whether people are looking or not and see if it's worthwhile.

The stats are publicly visible for those pages - 265T's has been there several months without any promotion/links and has nearly 600 hits from people just stumbling on it.
