With my website developer hat on, it almost kills me.  People are testing IE8, yet most stats show approx 25% IE6 usage.  WTF?

Yeah - our company still has ie6, and because I do the intranet and web dev all my stuff has to work properly in it, which means half the stuff I do at work looks crap on proper browsers as it's not worth being css compliant when you have a captive audience, however I'm now also taking over stuff for a major energy retailer on their outward facing site for billing for xxxxx of customers so I get a bit more nervous and anal with that.

Yeah, stupid company computers. What's the deal with later versions of IE??
It's a "free" DL from MS on the Home PC, what's stopping a roll out on company PCs???

Or is it a little more complex than that?

I don't do network/admin/support stuff (pitcrew) but afaik it's a pretty major thing to "re-image" a standard desktop profile when  you're talking hundreds/thousands of profiles in a company across oz.

Within 5 years the "desktop" wil be gone and we'll all be supplied "laptops" (a new word will be invented soon for smaller wearable systems) which pair to your monitors, may even end up a "public carpark" scenario where locations are based on who gets in when - but I digress...

Have heard from the hosts about the ongoing database issues causing slowness and lockouts more and more lately, they are working on a solution to set up new servers to take the load off - hopefully this will help things get back to the halcyon days of megaspeed and reliability.
