How about a section set for competition cars as the search abilities in http://www.my105.com are terrible. Might even get some money. There are currently 1844 adverts online at $29.50 each. $54,398 might even cover your beer and hookers.

I'd love to know where my105 get their stats from, I've seen that little counter at the top say there's "currently" over 5,000 visitors online.

I know online traffic estimators are fairly bunk, but they all show AE as having buckets more traffic.

And Googles own website profiler:

Couldn't find the Lambo pics - so instead I'm selling your 458 for you. :D

So - here's my first draft of a HD classified (warning: it will bring anything short of a Crays supercomputer to it's knees):

http://aussieexotics.com/showroom/showcase.php/listing/563/ferrari/ferrari-458-italia

The other low-res ads still work in it - mostly. :?  Just change "classified" to "showcase".

http://aussieexotics.com/showroom/showcase.php/listing/321/cars-general/koenigsegg-ccx

http://aussieexotics.com/showroom/showcase.php/listing/559/ferrari/1992-ferrari-348-ts-black-very-rare

A few wrinkles, but for the most part it works ok.

Ok bed time... :tired: :faint:

I've got ideas for options which would make an ad more like a real slick showcase - think of the vehicle selection screens in video games - the main problem is that most people take shit photos that wouldn't warrant it.

The next part of my idea is to team up with AE photogs around oz, they go on site for a mini photoshoot, charge $100-200 and go 50:50. Of course dealers can be done in bulk for cheaper.

I know theres a mob who already sort of do this, but would it be feasible to aim at only the high end stuff?

I like the idea of a one-stop-shop for high-end car classifieds.  Your example looks good too.  You need to make the text more legible though - maybe have the slide show on 2/3 of the page and the text on 1/3.  The thumbs on the left and right need to be tweaked too - they show a small portion of the photo @100% zoom rather than a thumb of the whole photo.

Yeah i just wanted to get the basics of a full-screen display which is functional as well, apart from portfolio websites which are mostly in flagj flash, you just don't see full screen utilisation that the user can modify and show off. This will become more important over the next year or so as touchscreens and tablets become the norm rather than a novelty.

A few tweaks here and there, any thoughts?

FWIW it looks great on my HTC Desire HD, proper fullscreen enabling really is the way of the near future, can someone post some thoughts on how it is on iPhone/iPad?

Oh yeah, it will still probably look munted on Internet Explorer. :?

I have noticed that there are now a few ads from discountusedcars.com.au.

Seems to be gathering momentum?
