An ING maximiser account gives you 3.5% currently, up to 100k, $1000 a month minimum deposit
Alternatively you can get 3.4% on a rams saver account if you make no withdrawals and deposit $200 a month (max 250k)
Or you can get 3.37% at Ubank and be able to make withdrawals (max 200k)

Or you can have all 3, and all 3 get the government deposit guarantee as long as you keep the amount in each bank under $250k

So I am not sure why currently you would risk stocks, and term deposits seem a bit silly in comparison.
Perhaps if you are impacted by foreign currency movement you might need something else.

Here's the bottom according to someone who follows these things, DING DONG is when you start buying.

I think it's called charting, or voodoo perhaps.

I was read an analysts article at lunch time, according to him, some of the sell off is due to Margin calls and forced selling. Surely that wouldn't be causing that much of this crazy sell off?????
