Er no - the lead-time starts when the order is placed.  The lead-time is to produce the item, then (as these guys don't have a teleportation machine) it takes about a week to air freight it to your door, and in the mean time wrangle the customs dudes who are hell bent of wrapping everything in red tape...  I just had some orders from the USA held by customs for 10 days, but that was mainly due to the manufacturer getting caught undervaluing shipments (makes no difference to me, as whatever GST I pay to customs I get back as input credits) and mix-ups within FedEx.  Suffice is to say I spent HOURS on the phone to FedEx in the past week.

See, there are reasons why its good not to import yourself.  If it goes well, hooray, but if it goes bad, its a nightmare and you have to know how to work the system.
