Im looking to import a brand new DB9 from the UK to Australia. It hasn't been registered in my name for a year. Tax wise, how much will I pay on this car importing it from UK to Oz including LCT and Duty and GST?

well first of all you can't

you need to import it via a RAWS and only if the car is allowed.

I doub't that vehicle is allowed to be a personal import.

You need to contact cam, and let him drive it for a year.

Not going to happen, no RAWS.

You will need to own it for 12 months while you are living over there to have any chance of bringing it here.

+1 what she said :)

Do you trust me to own it for you and bring it back over with me when I come back to OZ?
You can say I'm wrong, but my garage doesn't agree with that statement!!!

Yes ++++1 whatever they said above.  Minimum 12 months personal ownership with proof of receipts, residential status, house bills, + every page of your passport to show you haven't left the UK during that 12 months.  The PI process is very simple annd works very well.  I can vouch for that.  Also Ash has put a LCT calculator somewhere on this forum.  A rough cost would be 20% of the car's purchase price.

In fact, the DB9 is one of the few vehicles specifically listed as not eligible for import. This is due to a guy moving from the UK to Australia a while back who wanted to bring his DB9 with him which he had owned for I think only 9 months. He spent thousands of dollars battling with the Australian government trying to allow him to import the vehicle after they rejected his application to have the DB9 added to the SEVs list.

There is actually a small possibility (<0.1%) that you can get the facelifted DB9 onto the SEVs register, and that's only if Aston Martin set an allocation of new DB9s to Australia.

I don't think it's as simple as owning the car either, you also have to drive it regularly.

If, somehow, you are allowed, then the car would end up costing around $300k AUD (including compliancing and all import taxes) plus on roads for your state.

You would have a better chance of being able to import a Virage, even then, it's an unbelievably complicated process that's unlikely to be allowed by Aston Martin.

I thought you already learned not to correct mondi on all things importing.

Ash can we get some sort of warning before making a new thread if you have less than 50 posts; that this has been asked a hundred times before and to follow a link.

I didn't correct him, and I also doubted anyone would remember the man who tried to import his green DB9.
