exactly - an older car will require some TLC

IMO stay away from the Barina (my wife had a Vectra - biggest lemon ever & everything cost big $),  buy a VS Commodore for $3k & save the rest for when you crash it

My SRi has been fantastic, and i struggle to think of getting rid of it to buy anything new, because there are no new hot hatches that compare.

only things that have gone wrong with it are either caused by someone not servicing it properly (i had a problem with a mechanic) or usual wear and tear.
