I wasn't sure how many cars there were in the line til I pulled out, then decided to go the whole lot, as I went over 160 on the wrong side of the road it worried me that someone might appear over the crest coming my way and I wouldn't have room to get back to the left OR someone in the line might pull out in front of me to overtake the one in front without seeing me, he would be looking forward not behind him.

Cant speed on those trips anymore last time I went up the South Coast I got caught on the way and on the way back doing 120, didn't even see the cop car it was radar from somewhere out of sight.

All it takes is for the car second in the queue to pull out without seeing you in his mirrors and its game over. 60 kmph speed differential. Not worth it.

It was a split second decision, I saw the line when I pulled out and flattened it only realising the danger half way through.....never again.

Highway patrols don't take photos. They have radar and will stop you if they detect you speeding. Photos can only be taken by fixed cameras or stationary vehicles.

Yesterday in WA, driving from MArgaret River towards Cowaramup, these were the speed limits:

110
80
60 (roadworks)
40 (roadworks)
60 (end roadwork)
50 (entering town limit)

Now, all the above 6 different limits were within a distance of 400meters!!! The last 60 zone was only 30metres.

And it gets better - there was a cop with a radar/laser gun monitoring those roadworks - WTF??

Yes, but detectors are legal. There is no excuse to get caught in WA. Every time I got caught was because I was daydreaming and not paying attention to the detector. A cop once even chastised me for not paying attention to the detector!
