Thanks for a great day yesterday guys.

My test drive of the 86 was confirmation that I need to find something else with more grunt.

The search continues...

Didn't love it?  Everyone else loves it.  I confess I don't quite get it but what were your impressions?

Its has some very good aspects to it. Here's a bit of a brain dump of my thoughts. Seating position nice and low, great overall vision, fantastic gear box and positioned within easy reach, pedal placement is really good for heal and toeing. The initial turn in is very good and overall steering is excellent, handles mid corner bumps well.

I found the clutch is very light so its hard to initially find the point of grip, but I suspect that would come with time and practice.

I didn't try it in sport mode where it relaxes the traction control, but in standard mode is keeps locking brakes to stop wheel spin and is very intrusive when driving through the tight corners, more so than my previous cars.

To me, its fatal flaw is lack of grunt. On my way back on Friday I was struggling to overtake cars at 100km/h, it just doesn't give you the confidence to overtake quickly which is disconcerting.

I'm sure this could be fixed with forced induction of some kind, and initially I was keen to do this, but now I'm not keen on voiding warranty on something like the engine, when it  (and the drivetrain) was never designed to handle that kind of power.

I think everyone loves it because its a great overall "sporty" package for the money. I can see how you could have quite a bit of cheap fun in the car.

Love the corvette. Is it a 59?
I think it is a 59, the 58 had louvres on the bonnet but the same shape.
