Any advice about these cars?  I'm in the process of buying one.  Any first hand experience?

Yes, we have done a few here at RamSpeed in Sydney. Main issues to look out for are the rear diff seals (leaks developing mid 30's) as well as the single mass clutch which may have been thrashed by previous owner. The main issue is the launch of the R8 with traction off. The brakes will hold the car, but the clutch wont and it just fries the flywheel causing early vibrations and a worn out clutch. Apart from that all good. Have a look at ABT Sportsline R8, nice machine.

Yes, great. The blade is interchangeable. We have also covered one with Carbon Wrap.
