Hi!

I'm considering buying a Lotus Elise and noticed the recent news of the price drops since Ateco Automotive took over the distribution rights.

http://www.caradvice.com.au/134306/lotus-australia-slashes-up-to-46000-off-elise-exige-evora-prices/

The article is quoting the Elise (with Sports Pack included) as being $67990 and the Elise SC (or S now, also with Sports Pack included) as being $77990.

Just wondering if anyone knows how much the dealer mark ups and taxes and stuff should be. How much should I be paying drive-away? Have the price drops filtered down to the dealerships yet? Just wanted some educated opinions before going to the local dealer. (I'm in Melbourne by the way.)

One other question... Is it even worth buying new if I want to at least take it to the track a few times, but mainly use it as a daily driver? I hear that the warranty is invalidated by taking it to the track, which basically makes buying a brand new one pretty pointless... no?

Thanks for your time guys!
Taz.

(PS: Added a poll at the top if anyone can be bothered...)

^^ Either what he said ...

or, why not buy a second hand Exige? If you're going to get addicted to the track (hard not to!) then they always seem to do well and they're robust.
C'mon, do it!

Epic car, but I can't see it getting 100K in the current market unless there's a deadset diehard fan out there.
C'mon, do it!

I reckon it would fly out the door at 80k, thats where I'd price it.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the choices you have proposed but my choice would be the SC.
