TYPE OF USE:
Fuel Economy Engine Oil specially designed for last generation cars, powered by turbo Diesel direct injection or gasoline engines, EURO IV emission regulation compliant, requiring an ACEA C2 engine oil, designed to use low friction and low HTHS (< 3.5 mPa.s) viscosity oil and "Mid SAPS" with reduced content of suphated ash (= 0.8%), phosphorus (0.07 = x = 0.09%) and sulphur (= 0.3%). Suitable for any type of Diesel or gasoline engines calling for "fuel economy" lubricants : ACEA A1/B1 or A5/B5 standards. These oils may be unsuitable for use in some engines. Refer to the owner manual or handbook if in doubt.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Peugeot and Citroen HDi engines with or w/o Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Engines compliant with EURO IV emission regulation are fitted with sensitive exhaust gas after treatment systems : - Sulphur and phosphorus inhibit catalytic convertors operation and can damage catalytic components : inefficient exhaust gas treatment. Sulphated Ashes clog diesel particulate filters : shorten regenerating cycle, higher fuel consumption and engine power loss. ACEA developed ACEA C2 standard for lubricants with low friction, low HTHS (< 3.5 mPa.s), reduced Sulphated Ash, Phosphorus and Sulphur content (Mid SAPS), suitable for use with exhaust gas after treatment systems. ACEA C2 lubricants are environment friendly reducing fuel consumption, minimizing green house gases emission and also achieve extended drain  intervals managed by vehicles computer on board.

Drain interval : according to manufacturers’ recommendations and tune to your own use.
Do not mix with lubricants not ACEA C2 compliants.

This 100% synthetic engine oil has been formulated, developed and tested according to the most recent technical requirements of petrol and diesel engines. The new performance ACEA A5/B5 requests fuel economy and low emission performance for powerful engines : MOTUL 8100 Eco-nergy 5W-30 has synthetic base stocks and specific friction modifier molecules that provide an outstanding oil film resistance, reducing friction in the engine, maintaining the oil pressure, and generally decreasing the operating temperature. MOTUL 8100 Eco-nergy 5W-30 provides outstanding lubricating properties such as wear and high temperature resistance and controlled oil consumption. Anti-oxydation, Anti-wear, Anti-corrosion, Anti-foam properties.

RECOMENDATIONS:

Numerous car maker approvals make this product multipurpose especially recommended when the car is under warranty. Suitable for leaded or unleaded gasoline, Diesel fuels and LPG.

PERFORMANCE:
STANDARDS ACEA A3 / B3 / B4, APPROVALS API SL / CF, VW 502 00 / 505 00 - BMW ‘Long Life’ - PORSCHE CAYENNE 2002, Mercedes Benz 229.3 - OPEL/GM Diesel LL B-025, * The OPEL/GM Diesel LL B-025 standard requires two main properties to the lubricant : high HTHS and very low volatility to drastically decrease oil consumption. Motul 8100 X-cess 5W-40 is especially recommended for OPEL 2.0 and 2.2 DTI engines (extended drain interval : computer on board). * The ACEA B4 performance requires an outstanding detergent/dispersent power and a better viscosity increase resistance due to soot produced by Direct Injection Diesel engines (excep VW unit injector engines that require MOTUL Specific 505.01 5W-40) * The MB 229.3 standard is more stringent than 229.1 in terms of ageing resistance (extended drain interval : computer on board ), detergent/dispersent power (ACEA B4) and requests fuel economy performance : 1.2% fuel economy improvement versus a 15W-40 reference.

It largely exceeds the stringent specified engine performance limits required by the European and US car manufacturers. * The performance ACEA B4 request an outstanding detergent/dispersant power and a better viscosity increase resistance due to soot needed for a perfect lubrication of last generation Direct Injection Diesel engines (exception for VW unit injector engines asking for at least MOTUL Specific 505 01 5W-40). * The VW 503.01 standard requires at the same time low volatility, high efficiency lubricant, friction reduction, high resistance at high temperature met in modern engines to allow extended drain intervals (computer on board). * The standard MB 229.3 is more stringent than 229.1 in terms of ageing resistance (extended drain interval : computer on board), detergent / dispersant power (see ACEA B4) and requests fuel economy performance : 1.2% fuel economy improvement versus reference 15W-40.
