On  a serious note though...

can you explain (but no need to divulge hard earned specific knowledge) what you need to do to keep the gears on the inside of the box?

Or, do you just keep throwing gearboxes at it when they break???

ok, so it's a $0.50c snap ring that pops off... and it's quite an easy fix as such, but a labour intensive operation.

gees, i should get into these things

I could be driving a Ferrari in no time!

Nope there are more tranny issues than just that, some issues involve not being able to get in every 2nd gear( eg: 2nd, 4th, 6th), that isn't caused by the snap ring failing....

it could be though... do you KNOW it isn't??

If the shaft walks around when the clip and subsequent gear fails, that's what'll happen.

Ah Martin's cool, we go way back, he even wrote a piece for Motor about us that was at least 25% correct. :p

Was the 25% thing he got correct stating that Ash is actually a tranny (sheman style not gearbox)?

Here is an interesting analysis - http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=42179&st=0
This is the transmission out of the car in this thread after two years of track use :)
It is interesting to see Ferrari has adopted the same technology now with the 458
To have a look at all the bits and pieces we make for the GTR transmission, clicky - http://www.willallracing.com.au/transmission.htm

If the 458 proves to be problematic we will have one of those, undertaking the same processes :)
