23rd Oct 1976, I was on my way to a job (band) on Dynon Rd Footscray, got darker quick, stoppod the car and heard all the birds going back to their nests, then pitch black, then the sun came up at 4pm, truly amazing stuff.

Similar experience in NW London in 99 I think it was... Yeah, birds going to bed was the bit that sticks in my mind.

I watched it through the welding mask. Fascinating.

Next one is just a few weeks before the mayan calender doomsday... Will get them all revved up... !

mayan calender doomsday...

I'm guessing you've watch 2012?

If I understand correctly, the Mesoamericans never believed that the end of the Mesoamerican Long Count Calendar, commonly referred to as Mayan Calendar, meant the end of the world, they always believed it rolled onto a new cycle and used to have big celebrations to mark the end of the cycle and the beginning of a new cycle.

Historians roll around laughing about the panic around the world because of this stupid movie!

I cannot believe how gullable humans are, especially when it comes to hollywood movies

Watching Stephen Conroy being interviewed by Lisa Wilkinson on the Today show, he's almost a simpleton, Lisa had to speak slowly for him.
People are as you say, and our polititians are prime examples.

I like this explanation:

The calendar was never going to end. I spent 15 minutes on wikipedia one day learning how it works. The date is simply going to change from 12.19.19.17.19 to 13.0.0.0.0. It's almost like it's just a new century, from 1999 to 2000, just the Mayan cycle is somewhere around 394 years long (called a b'ak'tun)... And this one happens to coincide with an equinox.

Tonight we're gonna party like it is the end of the 13th b'ak'tun.

But then again, they sent me a message in Mayan-naise.
