I think it's more than just that, people smoke even though they know it's damaging.  I also believe people know they are eating crap and harming themselves in the process.

Of course there will always be those who know the risks and still indulge, I actually meant to include "self-destructive" as well as lazy/weak-willed - perfect example is myself, I know very well on a cellular level what alcohol does to the system, but still I use/abuse it frequently. Mea culpa.

I went to Maiz and Mezcal tonight. It's on Magill Road, near Burger Foundry.

It was excellent. Finally, Mexican food in Adelaide that doesn't suck and doesn't look like vomit/diarrhoea.

It's worth making a reservation a day or two in advance. We booked a table for four at around noon yesterday, they said they could fit us in at 9 but we were eventually seated (after a beer/cocktail at the bar) around 9:30.

Not a complaint at all, but they're very busy. Service was excellent though. I'll be back.

Barramundi with julienne veggies in a white wine sauce/soup thing.

I was really skeptical as it was being made - I mean it's very very watery, but the end result turned out absolutely fantastic, kinda Asian tasting.

So yeah, julienning?

Plated up - basically there was a layer of veggies, then the barramundi, then some more veggies dumped on top.

So yeah, this was an amazing meal, the julienne'd veggies in white wine made a sauce that was quite Asian in flavour, and it just absolutely set the barramundi off.

So easy to make, so impressive to chicks. Do it.

BE AWARE - this contains NO MEAT

I just made a little snack my dad used to make every now and then, nothing fancy but I'd never heard of it before until he made it and haven't heard of anyone actually making it.

I've always loved it and was reminded of it the other day:

Ritz crackers with peanut butter, cucumber and sambal:

I was surprised that something without meat was in the food thread! after all if it isn't meat it's just garnish!
