and he seemed to be using Launch Control, because i didnt realise he wanted to race until i heard him build the revs before the lights went (NB: this was on a private road, and no road rules were broken LOL) and there really wouldnt be any driver skill with an F1 and launch control for a traffic light grand prix would there?

But i guess i should disclose,  my GT3 isnt standard,  and the 4:11 diff gears make a huge difference to acceleration.

I'm confident you're mistaken. LC is not that flash for a start, and although the 0-100 time using it is good, the real time from deciding you're going to use it, to it actually being ready to be used AND then activated, is a lifetime.... so you were probably 4 seconds ahead of him already!

you still have to change gear too... and if a bad driver pulls a shift 1000rpm to early, or pulls twice (very common), then he's going backwards fast!

a 430 has almost 500 BHP, your 996 has around 400 at best??... weight is not massively dissimilar either...

 a 430 is faster than a 996, but the difference in drivers can swing it the other way.

Speaking of Porsches that aren’t moving checkout these two that have interior colours that are doing anyone any favours. * Not sure what the condition of the cars as this may have something to do with it.

My old 996 GT3 had no problems demolishing F430s at Eastern Creek, despite the slightly lower power-to-wieght.

a few of the others seem to have been used on tracks extensively, one of them one targa tasmania, another comes on a tandem trailer, another one won something else outright

I realise thats the main purpose of these cars,  but as a potential buyer you hope to find one that hasnt been a regular racing car

while i understand your sentiment, i think it is a rarity to find a GT3 that has not had extensive track use, i'd suggest very few are purchased and purely street driven.

i guess its like a F355CH all cars tracked, yet still highly sought after.

My GT3 has also had its fair share of track time, but as a result its also a much better car than any standard untouched GT3. (in terms of how it drives, not how it would win a concourse for being 100% original)
