Thought the same about mics but you can hear some cabin noise but no voice and I'd say you'd have to use a bit of volume to overcome the prevailing background noises

Nah.... You can whisper and be heard.

Wow.  Cars are legitimately just stupidly fast these days.

I'll happily forego 0.5 of a second for a manual, it's still way to fast to realistically use anymore.

Mental, isn't it? Cars getting faster and faster, and enforcement becoming tougher every day

Not only are the cars getting faster and faster, the technology is making them feel safer because they do it so easily. The authorities will step in at some point I reckon.

Everyone says that till they go on a spirited run with other cars and get left behind...

Actually whenever I've been on such drives I always just go at my own pace. Some people storm off, some drive miss daisy,  and I'm often in the middle.   I couldn't care less about being the absolute fastest.

But then again im also not a competitive person.

They've been saying this since the first car.

No idea; but the authorities stepped in here in Australia after the
GTHO Phase 3 was famously pictured in wheels magazine with its speedo pegged flat out at a massive 245kmh on the Hume highway. The local manufacturers were told to pull your heads in or we will intervene. At the time normal cars bought by Joe average would be lucky to make the old metric ton and only Ferrari, Porsche, Lambo etc were faster. The GTHO and Monaro race specials were attainable by the public so they were deemed a threat to public safety.
